For the past decade, the Center for Preventing Hate has been working with youth and adults throughout Maine and around the world to reduce fear and promote respect.
Social media sites like Facebook, MySpace and Twitter are hugely popular among youth and adults across America. Unfortunately, they are also increasingly becoming a site for hate speech.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Refugee Resettlement awarded the Center substantial funds in 2009 to expand the New Migration Project nationally.
The Center for Preventing Hate has gone into schools to address discrimination, to Northern Ireland to deal with hate crimes, and now in its tenth year, the Center is turning its attention to hospitals.
